About Me

I am (or possible was a couple of years ago) the kind of person who, when I said I like long distance running people would do that sucky in thing through their teeth, in the manor of a mechanic looking at your "big end", and say "you're not built for that are you" or something along those lines. They are probably right being a bit over 6' and definately built for carrying heavy things up hills.
I haven't ever let small details like that stop me though.
That has changed now I guess, and over the past year or so I have gone back to the weight I was "pre Megan" when I quiet fit and healthy.
Although I ran until I was 10 (and I wasn't too bad), I got asthma and fell out of it. I already enjoyed cycling but finding it didn't really effect my asthma I got quiet serious about it and I still am to this day. I didn't run any more than a mile or two until 13 years later, sticking to walking, backpacking, climbing etc.

As you may have already twigged I have a young family. I have a daughter, Megan who is nearly 3 and my long suffering partner Vickie. I work for a local telecomms company as a Senior Technology Analyst which sounds fancy but really involves lots of lines of code, cables, flashy boxes, servers, databases etc etc etc. It's time consuming but I guess I enjoy it or I wouldn't be there now! With all this and my training for the MdS my life is pretty full. It's a good job I am not in the last year of my honours degree with the Open University ... oh wait ... I am.

I like a challenge, I like to push myself physically and mentally, and I like to do something a little different from the norm - I think the MdS fits the bill perfectly.
Not only is this going to be a great event, it is also going to be a great honour to raise money for my chosen worthy causes.

I have become well and truly grabbed by all this and it is safe to say there will be much more to come after this!
